Remember when they told you playing video games was a waste of timeā³? They were dead wrong. The most valuable lessons I learned in life came from games, movies, TV series, and books.

šŸŽ®I have been playing this game called ā€œHarvest Moonā€ on Nintendo Switch recently. Itā€™s very chill and relaxing, and very beginner-friendly. Your ultimate objective in the game is to ā€œget marriedā€ (no Iā€™m not joking šŸ¤£). To get to that objective, you do certain quests that increase your attractiveness towards other people like mining precious jewels and giving them precious gifts. To give good gifts, you need money, and to make money youā€™ve got multiple streams of income. The two most straightforward streams of income in the game are farming and mining, BUT if you just keep farming and mining, youā€™ll get rich probably when youā€™re 65.

āš”I Wanted to Get Rich Quick

So I did what any honest to God game player would do, looking for cheats online. That lead me to some get-rich-quick schemes and I accumulated a lot of wealth in a short time. But thatā€™s not the lesson I learned from this game. Although, looking for alternative ways to make money, and money hacks would make a good lesson too if it didnā€™t involve cheating.

šŸ’”There is a No Cheat Hack to Money Management

In the game, if you sell an egg šŸ„š it gives you 60G. You could buy a Mayonnaise maker for 20,000G because a Mayo sells for 150G.

I had 8 chickens.
Over three years period if I only sell eggs = 312060 = 21600
However if I sell Mayo = 3120150 = 54000

Letā€™s take out the initial investment of buying a Mayonnaise maker as a business expense

Net Earning = 54000 - 20000 = 34000
Extra profit by making Mayo instead of selling Eggs = 34000 - 21600 = 12400

And that is just for 3 years in the game (A couple of days in real life). As I continue to play the game beyond that, the difference in profit keeps increasing.

šŸ’° How I Applied this to My Life

I could keep making YouTube videos on my iPhone, with zero additional investment, and one day my channel would get monetized hopefully. But that would be a long and tiresome process, and I would be more likely to give up since Iā€™m not seeing any potential growth.

šŸ™†ā€ā™€ļøInstead, hereā€™s what I did:

  1. Upgraded my Camera to Sony A7C and Microphone to Rode Videomic Pro Plus
  2. Upgraded my lighting by adding the cheapest possible lighting equipment from Amazon
  3. Improved my background by adding the cheapest possible sound panels, some practical lights from dollarama (dollar tree), and a lightning bolt neon sign from amazon
  4. Outsourced my editing to freelancers

And I can already see the difference. Can you?

ā¤My Favorite Things

šŸŽ¬YouTube Video:

Making this video genuinely made me happy because I know it will help a lot of people.

šŸ“•Book:

I started reading ā€œMillionaire Fastlaneā€ by M. J. DeMarco and then also started listening to it on Audible. Iā€™m liking the Audible versionšŸ‘‚ more. Let me know if youā€™ve read this book. What was your reaction?

šŸ”Iā€™m Learning:

Iā€™m learning how to communicate better with people. As part of my newest expedition, I have to communicate my YouTube project ideas to my editors. Itā€™s like downloading your brain into another human being. Iā€™m not gonna lie, itā€™s very difficult and at times makes me feel like Errrhhh šŸ˜¤ why donā€™t I just edit it myself.

I see that youā€™ve made it to the end. If you liked this blog post, check out the other stuff I talk about on my YouTube Channel. Donā€™t forget to subscribe!šŸ˜‰
